Pineapples and Game of Thrones S04E08 Sansa Stark

There is a trend of wearing graphic tees with pineapples. Here are my favourite tees.

The trend has extended to other clothing items and also home decor. I have also included a playsuit with a banana print, a variation of the trend.

Now it is time to discuss Sansa Stark. I think Sophie Turner did a great job (she stole the show), and the end result is that TV viewers are starting to like Sansa. During the interrogation concerning the death of Lysa Arryn, Sansa was able to lie efficiently, something she was not able to do in the past. So far no other character has shown this ability like Sansa. For example, Margaery Tyrell does not lie efficiently – remember her scene with Joffrey and the crossbow, the creepy scene she had with Tommen – it is possible for the viewer to see that she is not a good liar – her facial expression gives up everything. Sansa has also realized that Littlefinger wants her, a fact that gives her control over him, something that eventually will cause his downfall. Here is my post about Littlefinger’s downfall that I wrote last October.

The TV show has made Sansa’s character development very obvious to the TV viewer. In the books Sansa’s character development is more subtle. You have to read the chapters twice or thrice to grasp an understanding of Sansa. The interesting thing is that the TV show is moving very fast – and I suspect we will be dealing next season with material from The Winds of Winter, the sixth book of A Song of Ice and Fire, which is currently being written. Probably we will not see Sansa (Sophie Turner) until the sixth season. Hopefully that will not be the case. I guess we will see more development in Arya’s plot line next season.

A deviation from the books is that Sansa revealed herself to the Lords of the Vale. This has not happened in the books yet and I guess it will not be revealed by herself. However, the Lords of the Vale do suspect who she might be – at least Bronze John Royce. I am not sure how events are going to unravel in the TV show now that Sansa has revealed herself. Based on what the TV show producers discussion about this episode, it seems that Sansa did it to save Littlefinger. Basically she does not trust the Vale Lords even though they have been very strong Stark supporters during the War of the Five Kings. I will consider this a plus point for Sansa – it is better to mistrust strangers. However, it seems that she trusts to a certain degree Littlefinger because he arranged for her escape. In the books, she is aware that he likes to do things in a clandestine manner. For example, she realizes that he never came to her aid when Joffrey was abusing her in public. It is very likely that he is not the best person to be with but she needs him to survive in the meantime. She is learning how to play the game for her own survival. For those who are interested in how Sansa’s story will develop, there is a marvelous thread done by one of the “masters of foreshadowing” at Westeros.org. Below is the link. However, it is not spoiler-free

Finally I would like to add some images of Sansa. In the books Alayne colours her hair dark, and it seems that the TV show has opted for that (or probably the hair was wet).

The rest of the episode will be analyzed this Friday.
