Episode 201, “Through a Glass, Darkly,” makes a reference to “La Dame Blanche.” In the books, Louis of France describes “La Dame Blanche” as an individual who tells the truth and sees the true nature of people (ch. 27).
“A White Lady,” he said softly. “La Dame Blanche cannot lie; she sees the heart and the soul of a man, and may turn that truth to good . . . or to destruction.”
Throughout the series, Claire’s face reveals how she feels or thinks. Her face does not hide anything. There are some references to Claire telling the truth in the last scene of Episode 201. The Harbour Master reveals to everybody present that Claire is telling the truth in regards to smallpox afflicting the crew members of the Patagonia. Claire’s reply to St. Germain defines her as a White Lady.
“I have done nothing more than state the truth.”
Details Worth Mentioning
- There is the introduction of the use of gemstones for protection when traveling through time. The opening scene consists of Claire being back in her time. The gem in her ring is gone.
- The cut from the 20th century into the past, or from Frank to Jamie
- The CGI used to create the port buildings at Le Havre. My husband noticed it. He told me the buildings looked fake.
- The scene in which Jamie feels Black Jack’s touch, an excellent way to introduce how he is haunted by his experience at Wentworth.
- Jared going to the West Indies instead of remaining in Europe, a hint to Voyager.
- Jamie displaying his scarred back to his cousin Jared to demonstrate where his loyalties lie, even though he is lying.
I am currently working on another post and it will be a detailed analysis of Frank. However, I feel I should post some pictures of the interaction between Jamie and the Comte St. Germain.
